Who we are
The Northwest Louisiana Volunteer Center opened in April 2009 foster the spirit of civic engagement in Northwest Louisiana by connecting and enabling agencies and volunteers. We are an affiliate of the HandsOn Network, a national volunteer network.
The Volunteer Center puts volunteers in touch with agencies that need them most. In order to provide the best experience for both agency and volunteer, volunteers' skills and preferences are matched against the many opportunities available to provide the "best volunteer match." The Volunteer Center also provides trainings and seminars to give volunteers the skills they need to be effective in their community.
For agencies, The Volunteer Center provides a constantly updated calendar where volunteers can easily locate agency volunteer opportunities. We help match the right volunteers to the right positions, which can mean better volunteer retention. We offer onsite agency information sessions and open invitation agency information sessions if your agency is interested in joining our network. Throughout the year we offer periodic trainings for agencies on subjects including volunteer management in times of disaster, volunteer retention, and more.
