United Way of Northwest Louisiana and New York Life Insurance Company are partnering for Child Protection Days at the State Fair of Louisiana every Saturday during the fair (Oct. 27-Nov. 13).

In addition to safety tips and prizes for children, parents will receive a printout of their child’s fingerprints, photo, allergies, height and weight. The information will not be entered into a database.

Look for the New York Life/United Way tent near the Information Booth just inside the main entrance to the fair 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12.

"United Way of Northwest Louisiana excited about this opportunity to partner with New York Life in a program designed to protect our children. Our children are indeed our future and it is our desire that each child enjoys a safe and worry-free environment in which to thrive,” said Bruce Willson, President & CEO of United Way of Northwest Louisiana.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, an estimated 800,000 children are reported missing each year – more than 2,000 children every day. Today law enforcement is better trained, better prepared and responds more swiftly and effectively than ever before. There is better law and better technology. Parents are more alert and aware. Yet there are still thousands of children who do not make it home each year, and more who fall victim to sexual exploitation.

"We are happy to be partnering with our local United Way, which responds to some of the most pressing needs in our community," said Jeremiah Sherwin, an Agent with New York Life's Shreveport General Office.

"Providing Child Protection Days is New York Life’s way of giving back to the families in which we do business."
